Lunch with Barry Johnson, Executive Director of SelectUSA.

After nearly three years of service to the Commerce Department, Barry Johnson has transitioned from the role of Executive Director of SelectUSA to the State Department where he now serves as Senior Advisor in the Office of the Special Representative for Global Intergovernmental Affairs, located in the Secretary's Bureau.
Barry will play a key role in developing and implementing initiatives to foster enhanced levels collaboration between U.S. governors and mayors-- and their global counterparts with emphasis on linking related industry clusters. Leveraging his extensive corporate, foreign direct investment, and entrepreneurial experience, Barry will serve as the in-house business counselor.
During his tenure as the Executive Director of SelectUSA, a number of important milestones were achieved:
· President Obama signed the Executive Order creating SelectUSA on June 15, 2011;
· The Interagency Investment Working Group was created to engage all federal agencies affecting investment decisions;
· The SelectUSA training module was developed and implemented in markets globally with USFCS personnel;
· Ambassadors and key State department personnel have been formally engaged; and
· President Obama requested $12M in funding for SelectUSA in the FY13 budget.
Most importantly, SelectUSA is working hard with firms and economic development organizations in the U.S. and abroad to promote and facilitate investment in the US.
