Conversation with Garry Reeder, Chief of Staff at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau
Garry serves as the Deputy Chief of Staff at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau where he helps lead policy development, manage internal operations and provide capital markets expertise to senior leadership. He also serves as the Bureau's liaison to the FDIC and the Financial Stability Oversight Council (FSOC). Prior to joining the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau Implementation Team as the Senior Advisor for Research, Markets & Regulations, he was a member of the Auto Team at the US Treasury Department helping oversee the government's auto industry investments. Direct day-to-day involvement with the $23 billion IPO of General Motors was the focus of his efforts. He has nearly a decade of experience in the investment management business - most recently at Ziff Brothers Investments covering financial institutions and at Sanford C. Bernstein & Co. covering the media industry. He has also worked on a campaign for US Congress and helped research and write a book on the history of Yale University in the 20th century.
Garry received his BA in History from Yale College and his MBA from Columbia Business School.
